The life span of a Google query is less then 1/2 second, and involves a ton of steps before you see the most relevant results. 

Googl’e Matt Cutts explains how Google search works.

Key Callouts:

  • Your web pages should include the keywords you think people will use to find your site.
  • Include synonyms for targeted keywords within your content
  • Keywords should be present in the in the title, url of your webpage.
  • Get quality relevant sites to link to your pages.
